Micropayments for Bloggers a Reality
Fraxion Payments Releases WordPress Micropayments Plug-in. Bloggers Can Now Charge As Little As 1c Per Article.
Fraxion Payments today released its WordPress Plug-in that allows bloggers and journalists to charge for their articles, as little as one “Fraxion”, about US1c, with one click.
“Creators of quality content can now charge for their work,” says Chris Wilkins, co-founder of Fraxion Payments. “Those who create the content will get the lions’ share of the revenue. This is the way it should be.”
Bloggers will be paid up to 85 per cent on a monthly basis for purchased articles, which may well be a huge boost for citizen journalism.

I see Pete Cashmore (is that really his name?) is plugging Facebook as a micropayments platform. I find facebook almost hopeless as a place to provide quality content. I must admit I would prefer to provide content with whatever tools I have at hand, WordPress, Moveable Type, Joomla and so on and have a unified payment system come to my site.
I think a lot of these article talking about people “jumping to another site instead of climbing a pay wall” are missing the point. If you get it free the quality is likely to be lower than if you pay some reasonable amount for it. Google ads don’t pay enough to be the single income stream.
